현재 CBT 방식이 아닌 Internet-based TOEFL로 차세대 토플(Next Generation TOEFL)이라고도
불린다 .

iBT의 구성

1. Listening
1) 지문 유형
Conversations
길이 : 4-6분 정도로 현재 CBT의 대화보다 그 길이가 많이 길어진다.
Lectures
길이 : 5-8분
강의구성 : 세미나식, 강의중 질문과 토론 형식의 내용 등이 출제 된다.

2. Reading
1) 지문 유형
exposition
argumentation
historical / biographical / autobiographical narrative

2) 문제 유형
Basic Comprehension
vocabulary , reference , sentence simplification , insertion , fact , negative
inference , rhetorical (purpose)
Reading to Learn
- 한 줄 요약 보여주고 뒷받침할 내용을 보기에서 고르는 문제
- 각각을 잘 설명하고 있는 내용 보기에서 골라 표를 완성하는 문제 등
- 현재 CBT에 없는 문제 들이 출제된다

3. Speaking
1) Independent
◈ general topic에 관한 speaking

2) Integrated
◈ listening / speaking
- 강의 듣고 나서 1분 생각하고 1분 30초 동안 말하기 녹음
ex) According to the talk, what is the difference between extrinsic value and
intrinsic value in your response, be sure to explain the meaning of "" extrinsic
value "" ” and "" itrinsic va|ue""” / give are least
one example from the lecture to illustrate each term"
◈ reading / speaking
- 주어진 지문을 읽고 요약, 설명, 비교, 분석
- 단, 전체 지문 요약 문제는 없음
- 지문 읽고 나서 1분 30초 생각하고 1분 30초 동안 말하기 녹음
ex) In your own words, explain how human activities contribute to the increase
in desert areas.
In your response, be sure to information about AT LEAST TWO of the following:
